Unified rules governing all WPBC sanctioned professional boxing contests
WPBC Unified Rules of Professional Boxing
The World Professional Boxing Commission (WPBC) adopts a unified ruleset to ensure fairness, safety, and consistency across all sanctioned professional boxing contests.
CORE RULES
1. ROUNDS
Three (3) minute rounds with one (1) minute rest intervals.
2. REFEREE AUTHORITY
The referee is the sole authority within the ring and may stop a contest at any time if necessary.
3. JUDGES
All bouts shall be evaluated and scored by three (3) judges.
4. SCORING SYSTEM
The 10-Point Must System shall be used in all contests.
5. MANDATORY COUNT
A mandatory eight (8) count shall be administered following a knockdown.
6. MOUTHPIECE REQUIREMENT
All fighters must wear a mouthguard. Intentional removal may result in point deductions.
7. STANDING EIGHT COUNT
There is no standing eight count.
8. THREE KNOCKDOWN RULE
There is no three knockdown rule.
9. KNOCKOUT OUTSIDE THE RING
A boxer knocked out of the ring shall be given a twenty (20) second count and must return unassisted.
10. SAVED BY THE BELL
A boxer cannot be saved by the bell in any round.
Injuries & Bout Outcomes
11. INJURY FROM LEGEL BLOWS
If a boxer is unable to continue due to a legal blow, the bout shall be ruled a Technical Knockout (TKO).
FOULS & INJURIES
🔴 Intentional Fouls
- Immediate injury resulting in bout stoppage will result in disqualification.
- If the bout continues, a minimum two (2) point deduction shall be applied.
- If a later stoppage occurs, the result shall be a Technical Decision if the injured boxer is ahead, or a Technical Draw if scores are even or behind.
- Injury caused while attempting a foul shall be treated as resulting from a legal blow.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification at the referee’s discretion.
🟡 Accidental Fouls
- If stopped before four (4) rounds are completed, the bout shall result in a No Decision.
- If stopped after four (4) rounds, the bout shall be decided by Technical Decision.
- Partial rounds may be scored at the discretion of the judges.
LOW BLOWS
A boxer struck by an accidental low blow is allowed up to five (5) minutes to recover. Failure to continue within this time will result in a loss.
WPBC COMPLIANCE
All WPBC sanctioned contests must adhere strictly to these rules. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or revocation of licensing.
